Researchers from the HiGHmed Data Protection Working Group and the two HiGHmed Use Cases Oncology and Infection Control have published a publication entitled "Case Numbers, Re-Identification and the Technical Data Protection - An Aspect of the SARS-CoV-2 Pandemic" in close cooperation at SpringerLink.

The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has raised many questions of data protection and data security. The published article addresses the re-identification risks associated with the publication of infected numbers. It shows a way to reduce these risks by means of technical data protection in order to satisfy both the public's need for information and the informal right of self-determination of the persons concerned.
