Podcast DigitalisierungDerMedizin

The new episode of the "DigitalisierungDerMedizin" podcast discusses the exciting topic biosignals.

What exactly is it all about?
Our body is always transmitting signals. Whether healthy or sick, in motion or at rest, old or young. The so-called biosignals, e.g., generated by the heart, the brain, or the muscles, can contribute to a better understanding of processes and relationships in the body. They can be used, for example, for individualized therapies, for decision support for physicians, and also standardized in large amounts of data for research.

Who is the interview partner?
Dr. Karin Schiecke leads the production of the podcast "Signals for Life" of the German Society for Biomedical Engineering (DGBMT). In this podcast, she talks about her scientific work in the field of biosignals and how it can help children suffering from epilepsy, research in sleep development, and schizophrenia, among others. She also clearly shows us the connection of her research with the Medical Informatics Initiative (MII). She talks about her personal experiences, how she went from being a math enthusiast to a computational neuroscience researcher, and what has changed in the job market as well as in teaching over the past 40 years.
