On May 13, 2026, the 4th “Heidelberg Spring Symposium on Medical Informatics” took place at Heidelberg University Hospital. And this year, the number 4 represented far more than just the edition of the event series.
4 hours dedicated to Medical Informatics. 4 hours of scientific exchange for Germany and Europe. 4 hours full of inspiration for research and healthcare. 4 hours with a fully packed auditorium and highly relevant discussions.
The topics ranged from AI-supported clinical research and the integration of PROMs/ePROMs into patient care to real-time analyses of wearable and routine data, FHIR-based data integration centers, as well as the opportunities and challenges of synthetic biomedical data.
At the heart of the symposium was one central question: How can we shape data-driven innovation in a way that is patient-centered, interoperable, and trustworthy?
A sincere thank you to all speakers, participants, and contributors for the inspiring exchange and the exciting insights into the future of Medical Informatics!
Special thanks go to the hosts, Prof. Dr. Martin Dugas and Prof. Dr. Petra Knaup-Gregori, the entire organizing team, and all speakers involved.
We are already looking forward to the 5th Symposium in #2027!
