HiGHmed CKM

 

The HiGHmed Clinical Knowledge Manager (CKM) is a powerful collaboration tool introduced as part of the HiGHmed project. It supports the development, management, visualization, review, and publication of clinical data models.

The CKM contains a repository of archetypes, templates, and terminology sets that form the basis of medical information models. These models enable the sharing of health information across individuals, clinicians, organizations, and application systems.

Using the HiGHmed CKM offers numerous benefits to participating organizations:

 

 

 

 

 

  1. Knowledge Sharing & Collaboration: The CKM fosters international exchange of knowledge, expertise, and experience. Individuals can be easily involved in reviewing clinical information models based on their area of expertise.
  2. Data Protection & Security: The CKM supports compliance with data protection standards through detailed access controls and options for pseudonymization or anonymization of personal data.
  3. Technical Integration & Interoperability: The CKM enables cross-application modeling and enhances model quality through international collaboration. This ensures both technological and semantic interoperability across HiGHmed sites and within the Medical Informatics Initiative (MII).
  4. Efficiency & Scalability: The CKM infrastructure can be implemented and operated in a cost-effective, flexible, and scalable manner. This reduces resource demands and minimizes the need for involving key staff in routine tasks.
  5. Accessibility & Use of Medical Data: The CKM facilitates cross-institutional and cross-site data exchange, as well as the scientific secondary use of data from routine care, clinical research, and biomedical studies.

The HiGHmed CKM is primarily used for the management and modeling of clinical data and plays a central role in the HiGHmed initiative to enhance the accessibility and utilization of medical patient data.
