"A good and successful healthcare system needs a good interaction of people and technology".

For exactly half a year, since May 15, 2021, Prof. Dr. Björn Schreiweis has been Professor of Medical Informatics at the Institute of Medical Informatics and Statistics at Christian-Albrechts-Universität in Kiel. The 35-year-old accepted the call to the W2 professorship, which was created as part of the Medical Informatics Initiative (MII).

His research focuses on inter-facility, electronic health and patient records, and reuse of routine clinical data for research and patient treatment through IT support.

"My motivation is to connect technological tools such as apps for smartphones, tablets or smartwatches with healthcare in such a way that they support all parties involved in their daily work. Patients need to be the focus more than ever, while technical aids should be used where they are helpful and useful."
