On March 1, 2022, Bielefeld University with its Medical School and the University Medical Center EWL (East-Westphalia Lippe) (Evangelisches Klinikum Bethel, Klinikum Bielefeld and Klinikum Lippe) and the University Medicine Oldenburg (Klinikum Oldenburg, Evangelisches Krankenhaus Oldenburg, Pius-Hospital Oldenburg and Karl-Jaspers-Klinik) joined the HiGHmed Association.

The strong composition of the HiGHmed Consortium of medical sites and partners, the already established cooperation between Bielefeld and some HiGHmed Consortium partners, the focus of the HiGHmed Use Cases on health care research as well as key elements of the Medical Data Integration Center (MeDIC) architecture (esp. the semantic data integration close to the health care IT systems) motivated Bielefeld University to strengthen HiGHmed, which in turn contributes to their own strategic development goals.

The University Medicine Oldenburg has its research focus in the areas of neurosensory and hearing research as well as health care research. The Oldenburg University Medical Center is a cooperation with four legally and economically independent hospitals in the the region (Klinikum Oldenburg, Evangelisches Krankenhaus Oldenburg, Pius-Hospital Oldenburg and Karl-Jaspers-Klinik).

We are looking forward to a great cooperation with our two new partners and to further strengthen the HiGHmed network of renowned partners in order to use synergies and benefit from each other's know-how.
