HIGHmed welcomes the founding of Schwarz Charité Health Data GmbH, the new joint venture between Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin and Schwarz Digits. The aim of the company is to securely harmonize and connect medical data and make it usable for evidence-based research and modern healthcare.
HIGHmed sees this step as an important confirmation of the relevance of interoperable IT structures and open, vendor-independent data standards.
“The successful work of HIGHmed within the framework of the Medical Informatics Initiative (MII) has demonstrated since 2016 how medical data can be systematically integrated and made accessible for research and healthcare,” emphasizes HIGHmed leader Prof. Roland Eils. “Schwarz Charité Health Data GmbH builds on this experience and now enables the sovereign use of sensitive health data within Germany.”
The new platform HIVEPRO will be operated on the sovereign STACKIT cloud and meets the highest European data protection standards. HIGHmed particularly welcomes that the joint venture consistently implements key principles such as interoperability, scalability, and technological sovereignty.
“At the same time, this initiative will further develop the solutions and approaches created within HIGHmed for the broader community and bring them into widespread application,” Roland Eils continues. “The combination of medical excellence and technological expertise thus creates a solid foundation for secure, data-driven, and future-oriented healthcare in Germany.”
