Digital data collections in university hospitals – an interconnection of care and research: This is the topic of the podcast episode of the HiGHmed-sponsored podcast "DigitalisierungDerMedizin", which was published today. This time, the interview partner is Dr. Sabine Rey, deputy and operational head of the Medical Data Integration Center (MeDIC) at the University Medical Center Göttingen (UMG).

What exactly is this center about?

In addition to the classic methods of medical research, learning from data in medical care has become much more important in recent years. This means that new medical insights can be gained from data collected in the routine care of patients.

This can lead to the identification of new correlations in diseases or to improvements in the treatment of patients. In order to gain such insights, routine data from patient care must be compiled, standardized and made available for data analysis. And this is where the MeDIC comes in.
