Funding applications submitted

Today - 31 March 2022 - at 12 noon was the deadline for submitting funding applications for the next phase of the Medical Informatics Initiative (MII): the consolidation and extension phase (2023-2026).

HiGHmed and three other consortia (DIFUTURE, MIRACUM and SMITH) have been developing innovative IT solutions since 2018 and demonstrating the added value for research and care using concrete application examples. All German university hospitals have now joined the initiative. The expansion of successful MII solutions in the direction of cross-sectoral data sharing is also being piloted with the Digital Hubs.

Now the necessary steps must be taken to further develop the MII as a driver and impetus for a federated, national research data infrastructure and for innovations in the field of health data use. The focus of the upcoming consolidation and extension phase (2023-2026) is thus on expanded cooperation and interoperability between the university hospitals, on cooperation with actors outside the university hospitals and on demonstrating the added value through overarching use cases. In this way, researchers, doctors and ultimately patients can benefit from the advances as comprehensively as possible.
