The availability of high-quality, structured training data remains one of the key challenges for the successful application of AI methods in medical imaging.

The research team consisting of Dr. Hannes Ulrich, Dr. Robin Hendel, Prof. Dr. Björn Bergh, and Prof. Dr. Björn Schreiweis has presented an exciting solution to this problem: a fully automated process for the semantic annotation of clinical CT image series.

The method, developed as part of the Medical Data Integration Center (MeDIC) at the UKSH, improves the discoverability, structuring, and reusability of image data, thereby making an important contribution to the implementation of FAIR principles in medical research. This is an important step toward further unlocking the potential of data-driven medicine.
