Our HiGHmed consortium leader Prof. Roland Eils is also a Leopoldina member. The National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina provides independent advice to politics and society on important topics for the future.

In the context of the G7 Summit, which will take place in Carbis Bay in the UK from June 11 to 13, 2021, the G7 science academies have presented the statement "Data for international health emergencies: governance, operations and skills", to which Roland Eils also contributed.

In an interview with the Leopoldina Newsletter, Roland Eils, a bioinformatician and medical informatician, explains why it is important to establish a reliable system for the global exchange of health data. And why this will make it easier to cope with future pandemics.
