The HiGHmed Data Protection Concept

Especially for medical data integration centres which are subject to regional data protection law, the legal challenges to be addressed at the time of the possible granting of subsidies for this research cannot be completely foreseen today. Furthermore, not only data protection law, but also German criminal law is currently under revision as far as medical confidentiality is concerned.

The HiGHmed consortium is developing a data protection concept according to the best practice so far, which is based on the recommendation of the 87th Conference of the Data Protection Officers of the Federal Government and the Länder of 27 and 28 March 2014 in Hamburg for medical research facilities in compliance with the Guideline on Data Protection in medical research projects of the TMF (version 2).
